November 5th, 4.00 PM – The date and time set for the much awaited Finance Club elections. Competition was heavy for the Executive Committee. Nine students contesting for three posts of the committee. Equally scarce was the competition, or for that matter wasn't at all for the post of the President of the Club. Jaimin was contesting for the post of the President of the club. Nobody in the batch could match the amount of work that Jaimin had done for the club and rightly so was unopposed. For the executive committee the contestants were Ankita, Neha, Shekhar, Tony, Swanzel, Greg, Sitanshu, Eesh and Alex.
Now for the actual turn of the events. Nevaj, the outgoing president of the club, talked about the past one year in his tenure, the achievements of his committee and the challenges faced by them. He then officially kick started the election process by inviting the candidates to present their election mandates. A Q&A session was held after each presentation.
The process started with Jaimin presenting his mandate. Then came the Q&A… Questions started pouring in from all parts of the room. It was truly an event! The finance club members would not let his journey to the president post be a smooth ride. But he proved his mettle, by tackling all the questions with ease and 'satisfied' all =)
The committee members were up next. New and innovative ideas were presented in each of the mandates and the audience grilled all! They wanted their elected representatives to be true to their promises and made sure the candidates had clear idea of what they wanted to do for the club.
After the presentations, Jaimin was officially announced the President of the Finance Club.
Then came the voting.. 9 candidates vying out for the 3 posts.. all committed and true candidates.. Tough choice it was for the members to chose amongst them..
Post the voting, the candidates were eagerly awaiting the results. Tension was building up. But finally came the results. Shekhar, who had emphasized accountability; Alex who proposed to work on the website and new events; and Greg who had promised to give the members a 'good' time were the winners.
So here were the post holders for the coming year – Jaimin as the President; Shekhar, Alex and Greg as the Executive Committee members of the club. Wish you all the best guys, and hope to see more events, more activities, and more fun from the Finance Club in the coming year.
